Our story

Farmacia Barcelona was born from a very specific way of understanding care: listening first, formulating with criteria, and explaining each product clearly.

Its story begins in Dr. Teresa Castells' pharmacy. For over forty years, Teresa has developed more than two hundred formulas to meet her clients' real needs. The first ones arose from very specific requests: a jojoba oil shampoo for dry hair, a plant-based facial moisturizer, and other products that were not available on the market.

The origin: Barcelona, 1983

In 1983, Teresa obtained the license for the pharmacy located on Passeig de Gràcia, opposite La Pedrera-Casa Milà. In the laboratory set up above the pharmacy, she began to develop formulas manually, combining production with daily attention to those who came in seeking advice.

Those first products grew thanks to customer trust and, little by little, shaped their own line of facial, body, and hair care.

Knowledge, perseverance, and craft

Between 1998 and 2000, the building's restoration work forced the pharmacy to close temporarily. During that period, Teresa completed her doctorate with a cum laude qualification. In 2010, she received an award from the European Forum, an acknowledgment of a career built from the pharmacy and the laboratory.

A family brand with a vision for the future

In 2018 and 2019, her children joined: Norbert, a chemical engineer, and Mercè, a pharmacist. Together, they professionalized production and gave shape to Farmacia Barcelona.

Farmacia La Pedrera is the physical pharmacy linked to Teresa's professional origin. Farmacia Barcelona is the dermocosmetic brand and the digital space from which we share our formulas, routines, and care content.

What remains

The brand has evolved, but the method remains the same: starting from a specific need, explaining what each formula provides, and accompanying each person so that they can build an understandable and realistic routine.
